(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating two recent jewelry store robberies and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects responsible.
On October 27, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm, four (4) suspects entered a jewellery store situated at the Hazeldean Mall. The suspects proceeded to smash a number of display cases and take the contents from within. The suspects fled the premises, with an undisclosed quantity of property, to a waiting or parked vehicle. There were no injuries.
On October 28, 2016, at approximately 2:55 pm, four suspects entered an independent jewellery store situated along the 900 block of Greenbank Road in Barrhaven. The suspects proceeded to smash a number of display cases and steal the contents from within. The suspects fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of merchandise. There were no injuries.
Investigators believe the two investigations to be linked.
The suspects are described as being black males, late teens to early 20's, slender builds. The suspects took efforts to disguise their identities inside the stores. Worthy of note is that one suspect has a cast or bandage on his right hand/thumb (images attached.)
Investigators would also like to speak to a person of interest that attended the location of the second robbery minutes before the suspects entered. He is described as being a black male, early to mid 30s, dark skin, short curly dark hair. At the time he wore blue jeans with a white belt, and a blue jacket or vest (image attached.)
