(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit confirmed that one man was arrested following a shooting on Augusta Avenue on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
At 2:00am, Patrol Officers responded to multiple shots fired in the 100 block of Augusta Avenue. Officers apprehended a suspect after a short foot pursuit and a firearm was recovered. No injuries noted at this time.
Yonis ISMAIL, 35 years old of Ottawa is charged with:
- Use/Handle/Store firearm, carelessly
- Possession of weapon dangerous to public peace
- Possession of restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possession of restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possession of loaded regulated firearm
- Possession of firearm obtained by crime
- Failure to comply with recognizance / undertaking
- Recklessly discharge a firearm
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
