(Ottawa) –– A handgun and drugs were seized during a traffic stop by Frontline patrol officers early this morning leading to charges against three men by the Ottawa Police Service Guns & Gangs Unit.
At approximately 1:00am this morning, a Frontline patrol officer stopped a vehicle on Donald Street near St-Laurent Boulevard for a Highway Traffic Act violation. During the interaction between the driver and the officer, the officer noticed evidence of drug use. As a result, the driver and two male passengers were arrested.
While searching the three men and the vehicle, officers seized a loaded handgun, cash, marijuana and cocaine.
Hassan AHMED, 26 years old, Issack EGUEH, 24 years old, and Aayanle OBULI, 23 years old, all from Ottawa, are jointly charged with:
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Carry a concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
- Occupy a motor vehicle with a firearm
- Possession of a loaded Prohibited firearm
- Possess of a firearm obtained by crime
- Possess of property obtained by crime
- Possession of a Controlled Substances for the purpose of trafficking (SCH II)
- Resist arrest
- Possession of Schedule I Substance
- Possession of Schedule II Substance
All three are scheduled to appear in court today.
