FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 16, 2018 4:45pm
(Ottawa) – Saturday, in collaboration with Safer Roads Ottawa, the Ottawa Police will be conducting RIDE checkpoints throughout the day/evening on Saint Patrick’s Day, when officers will be looking for impaired drivers.
“Impaired driving continues to be a hazard on our roads,” said Sgt. Peter McKenna. “If you are consuming alcohol, don’t drink and drive.”
Impaired driving is 100% avoidable. Choose a safe way home if you have consumed alcohol:
- Appoint a designated driver
- Take a bus or cab
“It’s not worth losing your licence, your life, or the life of someone else,” added Sgt. McKenna.
