(Ottawa) –On Thursday, April 5, 2018, Frontline officers were involved in a police pursuit resulting in two men being arrested.
At approximately 9:30am, an incident occurred where a firearm was pointed out of a vehicle around and near Summerville Avenue area. Officers later located this vehicle where a traffic stop was attempted. The suspect vehicle fled the area and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle was abandoned near the Baseline Road and Fisher Avenue area. One male was arrested near the area of the vehicle. A K9 track resulted with a second arrest.
Two replica handguns were seized.
Nicholas RATHWELL, 18 year old, of Ottawa is facing charges of:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Occupant of a stolen vehicle
- Possession of a weapon dangerous
- Breach of recognizance (court order) x 7
- Breach of YCJA x 3
16 year old male, of Ottawa is facing charges of:
- Dangerous driving
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Flight while being chased by police
- Breach YCJA x 7
Investigation continues. There are possibilities of further charges. They will be in court today.
