911 call leads to canine track and arrest of vehicle break-in suspect

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, August 8, 2018    12:00pm 

(Ottawa) – A timely call to 911 on Monday morning led Frontline patrol officers, with the help of a canine tracker to arrest a man breaking into parked vehicles in the Old Irving Place area.

The call came in around 4:00am on August 6, 2018. Upon police arrival, the suspect had fled the area on foot, but using a canine track the suspect was located and arrested.

Michael LUNDSTROM, 21 years old of Ottawa, is charged with Possession of property obtained by crime x2.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 12, 2018.

“This is a great example of making the right call,” said Staff Sergeant Rick Giroux of the Ottawa Police Service Communications Centre. “Police were able to respond while the crime was happening and we successfully caught the person responsible. Members of the public are always encouraged to call police immediately when they see a crime in progress.”
