FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, November 16, 2018 12:28pm
(Ottawa) – Frontline officers arrested a man on Wednesday, November 14, in relation to a series of poppy box thefts.
Mikael ARJANI, 31 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with:
- Theft under $5000 x4
- Breach of Probation x10
- Failure to comply with Judicial Conditions x2
- Mischief under $5000
More charges are expected.
ARJANI was scheduled to appear in show cause court on Thursday November 15.
"The identification and ultimate arrest of the accused was a combined effort of the Ottawa Police and public alike. Having current and past serving family members, friends and co-workers of the Canadian Armed Forces and knowing that the accused was stealing donations that are used to assist with Veterans and their families made this arrest that much more gratifying," said Ottawa Police Constable Kris Montgomery (CPTF).
