FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, January 18, 2016   10:00am

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Central District Investigations Unit is seeking public assistance to identify the male suspect for theft of Canadian Currency inside a residence.

On January 6, 2016, at approx. 3:00am, an elderly man was inside his residence in the 500 block of Donald Street when he opened the door for an acquaintance.

The man came inside the victim’s residence and took over 500 dollars from an old wallet. He also took the elderly victim’s wallet and his identification. The victim confronted the suspect and the male left the scene with the money.

The suspect male was somewhat known to the victim as he had come to his house in the summer months to cut the grass and trim hedges. The male suspect had brought along his pregnant girlfriend at the time. It is important to note that the victim does not know the name of the male or the girlfriend but he was under the impression that they were living nearby.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 20 to 30 years old, 5’10” to 6’ (178cm to 183cm) English speaking, with light brown/dirty blonde hair, clean shaven and thin build. He was wearing a heavy red sweater at the time of the theft in January.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Ottawa Police’s Central District Investigation Detective Kaufmann at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
