(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has charged two men in relation to an overnight swarming in Tunney’s pasture.
On January 30, 2018, at approximately 9:45 pm, a man and woman were walking along a pathway near Tunney’s pasture when they were accosted by four (4) male suspects, with at least one armed with a knife. A demand was made to the male victim to surrender his bag. He was then pushed to the ground and assaulted. The female victim was also confronted by one of the suspects armed with a knife and had her purse taken. The male victim sustained a laceration during the encounter that required medical attention. He was treated and released.
Frontline officers, assisted by a canine officer, conducted a track to a building situated along the 100 block of Carruthers Ave. The officers located a blood trail and ultimately forcibly entered an apartment and arrested five (5) persons found within. One of those arrested was found to have sustained a laceration and was also treated at hospital and released.
Three of those arrested have been interviewed and released.
Anthony PIKE, age 21, and Emmanuel GUTTERIDGE, age 23, both of Ottawa, are jointly charged with the following offences:
- Two (2) counts of robbery
- Possession of a weapon
- Assault cause bodily harm
Anthony Pike is separately charged with
- Obstruct peace officer
- Uttering threats
- Breach of probation
Emmanuel GUTTERIDGE is separately charged with assault peace officer.
PIKE and GUTTERIDGE will appear in court on January 31, 2018. The investigation remains ongoing.
