(Ottawa) –On Thursday, at 9:30pm, Frontline officers conducted a traffic stop a the intersection of Cambridge and Arlington Streets. During the interaction, the officers learned the driver was wanted on an arrest warrant.
The officers arrested the driver, and released the male passenger. As the driver was out of the vehicle and under arrest, a gun was in plain view inside the vehicle. The officers also arrested the passenger who was a short distance from the vehicle. During the arrest of the passenger, a loaded handgun was located on his person.
(Driver) Ashton TAYLOR-CAIN, 25 years old of Ottawa is facing charges of:
- Use / handle / store firearm, etc, carelessly
- Possession of a firearm dangerous to public
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unlicensed person possess prohibited / restricted weapon
- Fail to comply with a probation order x4
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x2
- Fail to comply with a recognizance x2
- Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device
(passenger) Kadar AHMED, 31 years old of Ottawa is facing charges of:
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device x2
- Possession of a weapon x2
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x2
- Unauthoriczed possession of aprohibited or restricted weapon x2
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle x2
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm x2
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime x2
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized x2
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x2
TAYLOR-CAIN and AHMED attended show cause court this morning.
