Robbery suspects to be identified

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 11, 2016     10:07 am             

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the robbery of a second-hand goods store and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects responsible.

On February 20, 2016, at approximately 3:30 pm, two suspects entered a second hands goods store situated at the McCarthy Plaza, in the 3300 block of McCarthy Road. One of the suspects smashed a number of glass display cases with a hammer. The second suspect followed and took items from the display cases. As the suspects left the premise the first suspect swung the hammer at the owner barely missing him. The suspects then fled on foot. There were no injuries.

The suspects are described as follows (image attached):

#1-Black male, 6'(183 cm), thin build, wearing a black balaclava, black shoe boots, black jeans, black 3/4 length winter-fall jacket with a black hooded sweater underneath, gloves. The suspect carried a black knapsack and a hammer.

#2-Black male 6'(183 cm), thin build wearing a black ski mask, black jeans, black shoe boots, black ¾ length jacket with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath. Suspect carried a black knapsack.

Items taken from the store during the robbery were turned in to Police several days afterward. The items were recovered in the area of Alta Vista Drive/Heron Road.
