Man arrested after Sandy Hill Trespass by night incident

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, March 6, 2020                        2:28pm 

(Ottawa) – Ottawa Police Frontline patrol officers arrested a man in Sandy Hill early this morning while responding to a complaint about a Trespass by Night incident. 

At about 1:21am, Ottawa Police received a 911 call in regards to a man looking into an apartment window at an address on the 500 block of Chapel Street.  Police immediately responded to the area and located a man matching the description of the suspect.  After a brief interaction, the man ran away from officers and was subsequently arrested on Sweetland Avenue.   

Samuel GENDREAU, 31 years old, of Gatineau has been charged as follows:  

  • Trespass by night, per Sec. 177 CCC
  • Voyeurism, per Sec. 162(1)(b) CCC
  • Resist Arrest, per Sec. 129(a) CCC 

An investigation to determine whether this incident is related to other similar incidents, in the Sandy Hill area in that last few months, is ongoing. 

Police would like to thank residents that provided information and encourage residents to report suspicious behaviour.
