Man charged in Merivale Road Robbery

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, June 1, 2020    12:30pm 

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit has charged a man in relation to a commercial robbery that occurred on June 1st in the 1000 block of Merivale Road.

At approximately 2:35am, a man entered a convenience store and was acting irrationally.  An employee asked him to leave the man refused and shoved the employee before exiting the store. A few minutes later, the man returned waving a pair of scissors this time.  The man left with merchandise from the store and stated that next time, he would come back with a gun. Responding officers located and arrested the suspect nearby.

Joseph LIMADJA, 29 years old, of Ottawa was charged with:

  • Armed Robbery
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Uttering Threats
  • Assault
  • Failure to comply with a Probation Order

He is scheduled to appear in court later today.
