(Ottawa) – West Criminal Investigations charged a man with theft and driving-related offences following a Canine track in the city’s west end early this morning.
Police were called at about 1:50 am regarding a man seen breaking into vehicles. The suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle prior to police arrival. Patrol officers responding to the area of Fallowfield Road, observed the vehicle speeding.
The vehicle lost control near Holitman Drive as it tried to make a turn and slid into a fence.
The suspect fled on foot and was tracked by an Ottawa Police Canine officer to a house, where he was found hiding on the roof. The man was arrested without incident.
Ty TRUONG, 38 years old of Ottawa is charged with two counts of Trespassing by Night, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, Theft of Stolen Property Under $5000 and Dangerous Driving. He is also facing charges for two unrelated incidents.
TRUONG will appear in Show Cause Court today.
