Montreal man charged with theft of vehicle and related offences

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, July 10, 2020     9:25am 

(Ottawa) – Ottawa Police Service frontline officers stopped a Lexus SUV in the early morning hours of July 9th and an investigation revealed the vehicle to be stolen. The driver was arrested for vehicle theft and related offences. 

The incident occurred at about 3am, when officers who were patrolling in the east end of the city spotted the Lexus in the area of Hunt Club and Hwy 417 eastbound. Having seen broadcasts about high-end vehicles being stolen in Ottawa overnight and driven to Montreal, they pulled the vehicle over. 

Frantz MOISE, 46 years old, of Montreal was charged with:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Mischief/Damage to Property not Exceeding $5000
  • Possession of Property or Thing Obtained by Crime Exceeding $5000
  • Obstructing/Resisting a Public/Peace Officer 

MOISE appeared in Show Cause Court on July 9th. 

The Ottawa Police Service continues to monitor and pay special attention to the theft of high end Lexus and Toyota vehicles in Ottawa, particularly larger SUVs, 4 Runner and Tacoma.
