FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, May 12, 2016          10:00am

(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a March 2016 bank robbery and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the two male suspects responsible by releasing still images as well as a video clip.

On March 26, 2016, at approximately 1:35pm, two male suspects attended a bank situated along the 900 block of Watters Road in Orleans. One of the suspects produced a note making a demand for money. The two suspects fled the premises with an undisclosed quantity of cash and an anti-theft device commonly referred to as a “dye-pack”. The dye-pack activated immediately after the suspects exited the bank.  There were no injuries.

The suspects are described as follows:

  • Suspect #1 is described as a black male, approximately 5’11” (180cm) tall, medium build, and English speaking.  He wore a black ski mask, a black winter coat and gloves.
  • Suspect #2 is described as a black male, approximately 6’ (183cm) tall, thin build and clean shaven.  He wore a white hooded sweatshirt with a black jacket over a white Toronto Raptors baseball cap with a black rim, glasses, gloves and white and black basketball sneakers.

Investigators believe that suspect #1 may have been exposed to red dye following the robbery.  He may have had red staining to skin and/or clothing as a result. The suspect may have been forced to discard clothing items worn at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information with respect to this robbery, or any other robbery, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
