Two suspects sought in robbery of a cellular phone outlet on Merivale Road

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, May 15, 2015       8:25am   

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the robbery of a cellular phone outlet and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the two suspects responsible.

On April 13, 2015, at approximately 8:45pm, two male suspects entered a cellular store outlet situated along the 1500 block of Merivale Road.  The suspects entered the premises wearing disguises and advised employees it was a robbery.  One suspect displayed a handgun tucked in his waistband. The suspects obtained over 40 various makes and types of smart phones and then fled the premises. There were no injuries. 

The suspects are described as follows:

Suspect 1: male with tanned skin, possibly of Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, 5'10"-6'0"(178 - 183cm), medium build, 150-160 lbs. (68 - 73 kg), short hair, English Speaking, with a slight unknown accent.  He was wearing a beige fedora style hat with a black band, grey scarf covering face, black jacket, blue jeans, grey running shoes, black handgun tucked into center of waist band, black glove on left hand, carrying a "Metro" brand re-usable shopping bag (see pictures). 

Suspect 2: male with tanned skin, possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 6'0"-6'2" (183 - 188cm), stocky build, 170-180 lbs. (77 - 82kg), English speaking with unknown accent. He was wearing a green/grey "Puma" brand baseball cap, dark grey zip-up hooded sweatshirt with a light grey hooded sweatshirt underneath with the hood up, dark blue jeans, running shoes, light coloured underwear hanging out of rear of pants, black gloves with a flip back cover to cover the fingertips (fingers exposed), carrying a black "Nike" brand duffel bag (see pictures).

A white SUV was captured on security cameras leaving the area just after the robbery and may have been involved (image attached).
