Persons of interest to be identified in driver robbery

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the robbery of a ride sharing driver and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying several persons of interest that were present at the time of the robbery.

On August 11, 2016, at approximately 2:20am, a group of people contracted a ride sharing driver to pick them up at a bar situated at Kanata Centrum on Roland Michener Drive.

The group consisted of one female and six males. Near the intersection of Terry Fox Drive and Hazeldean Road, one member of the group became belligerent and then punched the driver.  As the suspect exited the vehicle, he grabbed the victim’s cellular phone.  At that point, the rest of the group also fled the vehicle.  There were no injuries.

Investigators are seeking to identify three persons of interest (two males and one female) in the investigation that were present at the time of the robbery. (see Persons of interest picture)

The primary suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, approximately 21-26 years old, with black hair, a thin beard, chubby build, eye glasses, wearing a black sweater and shorts. There is no picture available.
