(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service and Safer Roads Ottawa would like to remind drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to remain vigilant at all times when using the roads in the city.
The Ottawa Police Service Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is currently investigating several recent collisions involving cyclists, motorcycles and pedestrians that resulted in serious injuries or fatalities.
“Make your safety and that of other road users your main priority when you are traveling,” said Ottawa Police Media Relations Officer Cst. Marc Soucy.
Everyone is reminded to exercise caution on the roadway.
- Take the time to verify that your manoeuvres can be done safely.
- Even when you have the right of way, take that extra time to make sure everyone is safe.
- Safety is everyone’s business. Please drive according to your surroundings.
- Take into account the weather, time of day, location before you make your move.
- Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination, so that you aren’t rushing.
“Following these safety tips can save a life, and it may even be yours,” said Cst. Soucy.
