(Ottawa)—The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs investigators are looking into four (4) separate incidents of possible shootings that took place between June 25 and July 1, 2015.
On June 25th at approximately 2:43pm in the 1200 block of Meadowlands Drive, a complainant found three (3) .45 caliber casings on a bike path. No victims reported. No calls received about gunshots heard.
On June 29th at approximately 3:55pm in the 100 block of Benlea Drive, the incident was initially reported as a break and enter. On scene, officers discovered a bullet hole in the front door of a residence and seized a single round from inside the front door in a closet. No calls received about gunshots heard.
On June 30th at approximately 12:06pm in the Caldwell Avenue and Medford Street area, Patrol responded to this area following reports of shots fired. On scene officers spoke to a witness who advised they had observed a black male with a gun in the bushes in that area. No victims reported. No casings recovered.
On July 1st at approximately 1:00pm in the 1500 block of Caldwell Avenue, a call was received about a bullet hole in a kitchen window and bullet fragments on the kitchen floor. The complainant advised he had heard the sound of glass breaking at approximately 3:30am that day, but thought it was kids taking part in early morning Canada Day celebrations and did not explore further at the time. Fragments may be from a BB or pellet. West District Investigations has main carriage of this file and the investigation continues.
