(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking to identify persons of interest in relation to a suspicious incident at a south end jewellery store.
The Robbery Unit continues to investigate three jewellery store robberies from late 2015 and 2016, all subjects of previous media releases. Investigators are seeking to identify three (3) persons of interest, in relation to a March incident, and potentially in relation to any of those ongoing investigations.
On March 24, 2016, at approximately 3:30 pm, a lone male was “buzzed” in to a jewellery store situated along the 2400 block of Bank St. The young male indicated he had $1000 to spend on his mother. The male looked around for a few minutes and then left. At the same time, two other males were observed loitering in the parking lot outside the store. At this time, the first male returned to the door and was again buzzed in. The two other males then rushed the door, presumably to gain entry, but the door closed before they reached it. They shook the door but could not gain access. The merchant yelled that he was calling police and all three males then left the area.
The persons are described as follows:
#1-Black male 18-19 years, approximately 5'9” (175cm), wearing baggy grey sweat pants, and a black Nike sport “hoodie” with a white strip across the front. He was carrying a “Jansport” backpack.
#2-Black male 18-19 years, 6'0” (183cm), wearing a dark grey sweater with the hood up, a black neck warmer pulled up covering his mouth and nose, and black jeans.
#3-Black male, 18-19 years, 6'0” (183cm), thin build, wearing a grey “hoodie” pulled all the way down to conceal a portion of his face.
