(Ottawa)— Today, the Ottawa Police Service is launching the 2016 Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police road safety campaign, Drive Safe!
The province-wide education campaign's theme is Risk Takers Meet Undertakers and will focus on the dangers associated with distracted driving, impaired driving and stunt driving in addition to other risks to road safety like slowing down, pulling over for emergency vehicles and sharing the road.
On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, Ottawa Police officers will conduct enforcement on city roadways, looking for these infractions.
“The way you drive impacts everyone’s safety on our roadways, but pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists are the most vulnerable groups,” said Ottawa Police Service Traffic Sergeant Denis Hull. “So give driving your full attention and follow the rules of the road.”
Members of the media are invited to meet Sgt. Hull for interviews today.
TIME: 12:30 pm
LOCATION: Bank/Riverside
Road Safety was identified as the number one concern of residents in the 2015 public survey. We all have a role in making our roads safer.
