(Ottawa) – This evening the Ottawa Police Service is hosting its seventh annual gala in support of two local charities – Youville Centre and the Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region. The gala is being held at the Shaw Centre.
“Every year our Service looks forward to the Gala,” said Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau. “It’s an evening that celebrates our police service and our community, and has a lasting impact beyond the event itself through the funds we raise for local charities delivering much needed services and programs to our community.”
Over the past six years, $545,000 has been raised in support of great causes in the community such as Project S.T.E.P, the Ottawa Mission, the Youth Services Bureau, Christie Lake Kids, the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, and the Ottawa Food Bank and the Caring and Sharing Exchange.
The total proceeds raised as a result of the Gala will be announced at the monthly meeting of the Ottawa Police Services Board in January of 2017.
