(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a recent bank robbery and is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect responsible.
On September 3, 2015, at approximately 7:00 pm, a lone male suspect entered a bank situated along the 3400 block of Trim Road in Orleans. The suspect entered the branch and verbally indicated it was a robbery. He was armed with a handgun, which was pointed at bank personnel. A demand was made for cash. The suspect carried a plastic bag and an undisclosed quantity of cash was provided to the suspect. It is believed the suspect fled to a red hatchback that had a black roof rack. That vehicle travelled south on Trim Road and was last seen turning onto Colonial Road in an eastbound direction. It is believed the suspect was in the proximity several hours before he entered the bank.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, English speaking, approximately 6'0"(183 cm), medium build, approximately 25-30 years old. He wore a dark blue or black long sleeved button down shirt with stripes, beige/khaki docker type pants, blue/white baseball cap (no logo), sunglasses with dark lenses, dark blue and white running shoes, handgun observed.
