FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 14, 2018, 11:50 a.m.
Five men were arrested yesterday and four loaded handguns were seized along with a large quantity of drugs as part of an ongoing investigation by the Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit.
The arrests occurred at about 1:15 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 near the intersection of Fisher Avenue and Baseline Road.
Four of the men were arrested after attempts were made to flee in a vehicle and then later on foot. Numerous vehicles were damaged during the arrests.
Following the arrests, investigators then proceeded to execute several search warrants on residences within the City of Ottawa in relation to the investigation.
Items Seized:
- 4 loaded handguns
- 1.28 kilograms of cocaine
- 45 grams of crack cocaine
- 213.8 grams of marihuana
- 6 100mg patches of Fentanyl
- A large sum of Canadian Currency
- 5 vehicles seized for proceeds of crime
In total, 92 Criminal Code charges have been filed so far.
The five persons arrested are as follows:
- Haider AFFAT, 29 years of age
- Grace M’PEMO, 22 years of age
- Abdulaziz AL-ENZI, 31 years of age
- Abraham BIHI, 28 years of age (Outstanding Warrant for Possession and Careless Discharge of Firearm)
- Keyonte FLETCHER, 26 years of age
All persons will be attending a show cause hearing on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
The investigation is still ongoing.
