Joint Police operation results in two handguns seized in separate search warrants, four people arrested

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, July 19, 2019       11:55am

(Ottawa) –Yesterday, Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit and Gatineau Police Guns and Gangs Unit seized two loaded handguns as part of two separate search warrants.  Investigators searched one residence in Ottawa and one in Gatineau and made a traffic stop during which people were arrested. 

A first search was undertaken in the 1000 block of Cavan Street in Ottawa. A loaded 9 mm handgun and cocaine were seized. 

A home in Gatineau was also searched where a man was arrested and a gun and drugs were seized. 

A traffic stop in the Carling Avenue and Kirkwood Avenue area was also conducted were a man and a woman were arrested.   Cocaine was seized from the traffic stop. 

Mohamed E Ahmed MOHAMED, 35 years old of Thornhill, Ontario was arrested in the Gatineau home and Akossina Akossiwa AHIALOHO, (f) 24 years old of Ottawa was also arrested in Gatineau.  Charges have been laid by Gatineau Police, details to come. 

MOHAMED and AHIALOHO will attend show cause court in Gatineau. 

Brian Thomas AIKMAN, 30 years old of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of trafficking x4
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited
  • Carry a firearm, weapon, prohibited device
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited device
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 

Kadara Hayley JOHNSON, (f) 25 years old of Ottawa if charged with:

  • Possession of a scheduled I substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited device
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm 

AIKMAN and JOHNSON who were both arrested during the traffic stop will be in show cause court today in Ottawa. 

Seized items from the homes and in the vehicle were two loaded handguns (view pictures), and cocaine.
