(Ottawa) –During the late afternoon of October 14, 2019, Frontline officers attended the area of Topley Crescent and Karsh Drive area in response to a road rage complaint.
Officers stopped a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved in the complaint. During the interaction between the officers and the driver and passengers, a gun was noticed inside the vehicle. Three men were arrested at scene without any incident and the the shotgun was found to be loaded.
The Guns and Gangs Unit has laid charges as follows:
Youssef MAKIEH, 19 years old of Ottawa, was charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Common nuisance
Waleed BANJAKI, 19 years old of Ottawa, was charged with:
- Careless use of firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Common nuisance
Young offender, 17 year old male from Ottawa, was charged with:
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
- Common nuisance
All three appeared at show cause court last week.
