(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is hosting its fifth annual Human Rights Learning Forum: From Recommendations to Action – Traffic Stop Race Data Collection Project (TSRDCP) and Diversity Audit Reports in recognition of Human Rights Day Dec 10th. It is taking place on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, from 8:00am to 12:00pm at the Saint Elias Banquet Centre, located at 750 Ridgewood Avenue.
At this Learning Forum, participants are invited to partake in an interactive engagement session to share key findings from these reports and the Draft Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan that will be before the Ottawa Police Services Board (OPSB) in the first quarter of 2020 for approval.
The objectives of the Learning Forum are to:
- Present key findings of the Diversity Audit and TSRDCP reports (released on November 20th as part of the OPSB Agenda for the meeting on November 25th); and introduce the Ottawa Police Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) draft Action Plan;
- Provide attendees with the opportunity to offer feedback, as well as enhance transparency and accountability for our Service; and
- Present key preliminary actions towards OPS’s ongoing commitment to becoming a more ‘Equitable, Diverse and Inclusive’ organization.
