(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to a call about a fight in the 100 block of George Street earlier this afternoon.
At approximately 1:15pm, two men were involved in a fight outside the front of a local shelter. This fight escalated and the suspect stabbed the male victim multiple times.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was arrested a short time later by the responding Frontline officers. The victim’s injuries were deemed to be non-life-threatening.
The follow-up investigation by Central Criminal Investigations was completed.
As a result, Ronald (Rodney) GAGNE, 60 years old, of Ottawa was charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapons Dangerous
- Uttering Threats
He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
