(Ottawa) – Frontline officers responded to calls for service about a possible impaired driver on Carling Avenue near Woodroffe Avenue, in the evening of May 19th.
Responding officers located the weaving vehicle and arrested the driver for driving while impaired. While searching him, they came across ammunition in his pocket. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the location and seizure of more ammunition and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The passenger was also arrested and both occupants were charged with numerous firearms-related offences.
The driver, Mathieu LAMARCHE, 35 years old, of Cornwall, and the passenger, Marissa SCHOENFELDT, 32 years old, of no fixed address, were charged with:
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of a weapon
- Possession of unregistered restricted weapon
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
LAMARCHE was additionally charged with:
- Failure to comply with a Probation order
- Operating a conveyance while prohibited
- Operating a conveyance while impaired to any degree by Alcohol or Drug or a combination of both.
Both were scheduled to appear in court on May 20th.
