(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid a number of charges in relation to a home invasion.
On June 13, 2016, at approximately 1:05 pm, two suspects attended a residence situated along the 300 block of Trailsedge Way. The suspects knocked on the door and rushed in when the female victim answered. Once inside, each suspect produced a handgun. The guns were pointed at the female as she was ordered to assist the suspects in searching the house. Patrol officers arrived at the scene as the suspects were carrying stolen items from the house. Officers recovered two loaded handguns at the time of arrest. There were no injuries.
Two adults have been charged in connection to this investigation. Nicholas VANDENBOSCH and Justin CLEMENT, both aged 25 of Ottawa, are jointly charged with the following offences:
• Robbery with an offensive weapon
• Conspiracy
• Breaking & Entering
• Forcible Confinement
The suspects are individually each charged with the following additional offences:
• Pointing a firearm
• Possession of a weapon for committing an offence
• Carrying a concealed weapon
• Possession of a firearm without a license
• Possession of a loaded firearm
Mr. VANDENBOSCH and Mr. CLEMENT will appear in court on June 14, 2016. This was not believed to have been a random event and the investigation is ongoing.
