At the wishes of the family, the Ottawa Police is releasing the name of the victim in this case.
The 53 year old male has been identified as Brian Thompson of Ottawa.
The collision occurred on July 22, 2016 at Somerset Street West and Rochester Street at approx. 2:14pm.
The Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit is leading this investigation.

Male to be identified following serious collision on Somerset
(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Unit is seeking public assistance to identify a male pedestrian who succumbed to his injuries following a collision at Somerset Street West and Rochester Street at approx. 2:14pm today.
The male, who had no identification on him, is described as a Caucasian male, approx. 45-50 years old, 6’ (183cm) between 240-250 lbs (108-113 kg), stocky build, with light coloured hair and balding. He was wearing grey shorts and a grey t-shirt.
Witnesses said he came out of the nearby coin wash/laundromat and, as such, he possibly lives in the area.

(Ottawa)— Roads are closed due to a Motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at Somerset St. W and Rochester St. until further notice.
Rochester St. is closed between Spruce St and Eccles St; and Somerset St. W. is closed between Preston St. and Booth St.
Collision Investigations Unit is attending.
