Update in public assistance to locate stabbing suspect

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Service would like to advise that AHMED was arrested last night.  AHMED turned himself in at the Elgin Street station. He has been charged with Assault with a weapon and Aggravated assault.

AHMED will appear in court today.

Police seeking public assistance to locate stabbing suspect

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police is asking for public assistance in locating the suspect of a stabbing that occurred this morning on Forward Avenue.

The suspect has been identified as Hamze Abdi AHMED, 28 years old, of Ottawa. He is described as a Black male, slim build, 5’ 10” (178 cm), 160 lbs (73 kg). (see picture).

He is considered armed and dangerous; police are asking any member of the public who sees AHMED to immediately call 911.

The incident occurred at about 6:15 a.m. when an argument between AHMED and the victim, who are known to each other, escalated into a physical altercation. 

The 39-year-old male victim was taken to hospital in serious condition with a stab wound.
