FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, July 19, 2016  5:00pm

(Ottawa)— The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating a recent home invasion and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects responsible.

On July 14, 2016, at approximately 3:45 pm, the male occupant of a home, situated along the 1-100 block of Bankview Place, awoke to find three males inside his residence. One of the suspects was armed with what was believed to be an imitation handgun. The suspects made a demand for money. The suspects attempted to tape the victim’s mouth. A struggle ensued during which the victim was able to flee to the garage. The suspects fled the premises empty-handed under the belief that police had been notified by the victim. It is unclear at this time if the victim was specifically targeted. The home was insecure at the time of the offence. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing 4 males running in the immediate vicinity proximate to the time of the home invasion. The males ran to a car parked on Bartlett Private. The vehicle is described as being silver or grey, similar to a Hyundai or Toyota product.

The suspects are described as being males, 18-25 years old, black or dark complexions. One suspect was described as having small afro style hair, with a chubby build. At least one of the suspects had a scarf partially covering his face.

Residents in this neighbourhood are encouraged to contact Police if they witnessed anything suspicious on that date that may be related, or anything suspicious moving forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
